WebI gave a 2005 Mercury Montego. It kicks into failsage engine mode with the engine and failsafe lights on. It knocks really bad so we went and had it hooked up to a diagnostic. It stated the TPS was bad. In the Montego you have to replace the whole Throttle to replace the TPS. They are not separate units from what I understand. Once the part is replaced, it will clear on its own. They can also reset the code, but it will come back if the trouble persists.
