The Hegel 90 is actually cheaper than the CXA81 because i found a resealed one. WebThe DAC sound quality in the CXA81 is indeed good. Have run wired usb directly and streamed WiFi. It also has A and B speaker outputs and 2 optical/1 coax digital inputs plus USB. I can’t compare as I’ve not used/listened to the NAD, but I’m supremely happy with the power and sound quality of the Cambridge running it to Wharfedale Evo 4.2s.

I have Wharfedale speakers too and they are anything but bright. To my mind, it's a placement issue. Small tweaks can make a HUGE improvement.

I did consider that the 7000N has treble and bass controls (especially that I have them in a small room) but roon has DSP and EQ which can be used if needed.
