WebDec 21, 2016 · This is confusing, as running kpsewhich --var-value=SELFAUTOPARENT by itself outputs /usr/local/texlive/2016, so it appears the PATH is set. It appears that texlive itself is working fine - I can compile documents, and running latex small2e seems to output reasonable files. To reiterate, this is a new texlive 2016 install. Online updates/installations are only possible with the current version, that's 2024. Verify that it's 2024 or install 2024. Perhaps it could work anyway if you run sh update-tlmgr-latest.sh -- --upgrade at the directory where that .sh script is, probably in /usr/local/texlive/2024. Or how do i find out when my theory test expires
